WHAT IS THIS FEELING?
I wrote and illustrated this 32-page children's book, "What is this feeling?". It features a young boy dealing with depression and how his friends jump through obstacles to cheer him up. All the illustrations were digitally created through Photoshop in the style of hand-painted gouache. A heavier serif typeface was chosen for easy reading for both parents and children.
RESEARCH BEHIND THE DESIGN
Before starting on the illustrations and writing the book, I researched several components that impact the interaction between the experience of reading and the reader. My book focuses on therapeutic bibliotherapy, using books to help children grasp difficult topics. I also researched the impact of character choice and colors.
